Dhamma Gacha — the Dhammapada as verse cards
The whole book as a collection. Open a pack of five verses — most are quiet lines, a few are the ones half the world quotes, and one card, Dhp. 183, is the book in miniature. Packs refill with time and daily practice; nothing here is for sale.

How it works
- One pack holds five verses drawn from all 423. A new pack refills every minute, up to ten.
- Every tenth pack is guaranteed an SR or better, drawn from the named-verses pool.
- Five daily tasks each add two packs: open five packs, draw an SR+, draw on the random-verse page, share your collection, and roll a full round of 108 beads in the meditation hall.
- Your album, streaks and packs are stored in this browser only — no account, no server, no tracking.
Honest notes
Rarity scores are an editorial estimate of how widely each verse circulates — not a spiritual ranking, and not a claim the Dhammapada makes about itself. Flavor lines on rare cards are our words. This page is a memory game for a text we love; it is not divination, and the cards hold no power beyond attention.
Questions
Is this a gambling game?
No. Packs cannot be bought — they refill one per minute and daily practice earns more. There is no payment anywhere in the game, nothing is wagered, and nothing leaves your browser.
Where do the rarity scores come from?
From this site’s editors. A verse is SR/SSR/LR when it is widely quoted, chanted or memorized in English-speaking practice; everything else is placed by chapter. It is an editorial estimate, not a spiritual ranking — the Dhammapada does not rank its own verses.
Are the flavor lines on rare cards scripture?
No. Flavor lines on SR+ cards are this site’s own commentary, clearly kept separate from the verse text itself, which is always the full English translation.
Does my collection sync or need an account?
No account exists. Your collection lives in this browser’s local storage only — clear your browser data and the collection clears with it. That is the same promise the meditation hall makes.
Prefer one verse at a time? Today’s verse walks the book in order, the random draw never repeats, and the meditation hall has the beads your daily task asks for.
