Today’s verse
Tuesday, October 27, 2026 · the same verse for every reader, everywhere
“Intention is the leader of things; intention is first, they’re made by intention. If with corrupt intent you speak or act, suffering follows you, like a wheel, the ox’s foot.”
Manopubbaṅgamā dhammā, manoseṭṭhā manomayā; Manasā ce paduṭṭhena, bhāsati vā karoti vā; Tato naṁ dukkhamanveti, cakkaṁva vahato padaṁ.

How the daily verse works
We read the Dhammapada the way it has been recited for centuries — in order, a little each day. Verse 1 on 27 October 2026, verse 2 the next day, and after verse 423 back to the beginning: a full pass through the book takes about fourteen months.
The verse changes at midnight UTC and is the same for every reader, everywhere — a small shared practice. Miss a day and nothing breaks: every verse keeps its own page, and you can draw a random verse or find one for what you feel any time.
